History of the Cops, Cars and Cruisers Event

About Our Event

The Cops, Cars & Cruisers event is a long standing community outreach event which began at the Post Falls Police Department in 2011
under the name Cop & Kids and Rodders & More. Under the leadership of Chief Scot Haug and Police Volunteer John Bujosa, this event
was both a police department open house and a car show with the goal of bringing the citizens, car community, and law enforcement together.
In 2017, collaborating with Chief Brian Asmus, John brought the event over to Liberty Lake where John also served as the Police Ambassador.
The mutual interest in Special Olympics made it easy to pick Special Olympics as its first benefactor of this event.

In 2017, John held both an event at Post Falls in August called Cops-n-Kids & Rodders-n-More, and one in
Liberty Lake in September called Cops, Cars & Cruisers.

Over the years, the event has grown from just a car show, to a community outreach event that includes a car show, food court, craft fair,
community oriented information displays and activities, and a variety of performances and demonstrations. In 2017 we had 15 vehicles registered
and collected $700, which was donatated to Special Olympics. In 2024 we had close to 200 vehicles in the car show,
collected $4,539 which benefited local Special Olympians, and had several community oriented displays, craft fair booths, food vendors,
and a variety of spectators, supporters and friends! 2024 brought record attendance and record support for our event, which in the end,
benefitted Special Olympics!

This is a one-of-a-kind event that is designed to involve the community and first responders, in a laid back, family and fun atmosphere. We have modeled an event
that is being used by other agencies and local car clubs. There is no expectation of you to pay a registration fee or donate towards our fund-raising efforts,
but there is an expectation for you to enjoy the event!
